It is no big surprise that Apple is clearly setting the benchmark. As a user of both the Apps Store and Blackberry World I am surprised by how big the gulf between the two is.
I realise ‘Network’ requirements mean that Blackberry World can often not be pre-installed on a Blackberry but having gone to the trouble of installing
it myself I found the whole experience and content disappointing.
Blackberry World is very ‘US’ centric and does not deliver anywhere near the quality and diversity of Apps available from the Apps store.
The ‘open source’ approach of Apple has helped create an exciting, eclectic variety of Apps suitable for a wide range of audiences.
Whilst Blackberry produce excellent handsets, their desire to become more consumer focused in the UK will continue to be frustrated unless it can deliver a more UK centric and wider ranging Blackberry World.
