For the past four years Firecracker have been running an internal Christmas initiative with the Eaves Foundation.
Eaves have shelters in London where victims of domestic violence are able to ‘disappear’ with their children from abusive spouses/partners. Often they have had to run in the middle of the night with the clothes on their backs and a favourite toy, nothing else.
The shelters offer a safe haven for 10-12 weeks until somewhere more permanent can be found for the families. They are out of contact by necessity from their friends and family.
Thanks to all of our generous Clients and friends we were able to give 73 Children a very special Christmas 2011. Here is a special thank you to everyone that supported us, directly from Eaves:
Dear Sarah,
Happy New Year and I hope this meets you well.
My colleague and I collected from Firecracker, many many Xmas presents for the children and mothers in our refuges and other Eaves hostels and I just want to say a huge and possibly never ending Thank You!!
Your boundless generosity enabled the children to have many presents each…some even commented that Xmas 2011 was the best ever!! There were many teary-eyed mothers in the refuges just watching their children have the best time.
The women were all touched that you managed to provide so many goodies for them as well, they really were not expecting that, so it was a lovely surprise.
I can’t even imagine how long it took to wrap them all but everyone here is just hugely grateful.
Please pass on our gratitude to your colleagues and everyone else who was persuaded to provide gifts.
Best regards,
Cynthia
