April 23 marks the fifth anniversary of the first ever upload to YouTube, giving every man the chance to find fame. Over the years we have seen the site evolve from a motley collection of home videos to a genuine spring board for would be entertainers. Established media owners have also harnessed the technology to widen their audience reach, although the ongoing battle over copyright looks set to continue for some time. Here, we take a look at ten people who have found fame or re-ignited stagnant careers through YouTube and find out where they are now.
